During this presentation, we will look at traditional word problems and give them a healthy spin to spark student interest. Students are expected to analyze, make conjectures, and argue mathematical problems while using standards-based evidence. In order to drive and engage our students to do so, we must serve up problems that feel like a realistic and meaningful task. We will also design our tasks to have an entry point, and we will celebrate the progress students make toward mastery which looks different for all learners.
